The Edward MacDonald Branch 499 of the Royal Canadian Legion proudly serves Veterans, active military, RCMP members, and their families while honouring the legacy of Comrade Edward MacDonald—a World War II Veteran and lifelong community leader. Assistance for Veterans

The Royal Canadian Legion provides direct support to Veterans and their families with the disability claims process through Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC). Additionally, it offers a range of programs, resources, and referrals to promote Veteran health, ease the transition to civilian life, and provide financial assistance and overall well-being support.

Youth Services

The Royal Canadian Legion fosters youth engagement through Remembrance education, leadership opportunities, and sports programs. Local branches support ceremonies, scholarships, and Cadet partnerships, while national initiatives like contests and track and field events inspire creativity and community involvement.

Bursaries and Scholarships

The Royal Canadian Legion provides financial support for post-secondary education through bursaries and scholarships. Local branches may offer Poppy Trust Fund bursaries to children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Veterans, while scholarships recognize youth achievement in the community. These programs help students pursue their educational goals and are funded by Legion branches, auxiliaries, and charitable activities. Contact your local branch for details.

Promoting Remembrance

The Royal Canadian Legion honours the sacrifices of Canadian Veterans, military families, and peace officers through dedicated Remembrance programs. The Poppy, a symbol of gratitude since 1921, is central to these efforts. Each year, the Poppy Campaign raises awareness and supports initiatives that ensure Canadians never forget those who served.
